How Soon Can You Schedule Your Roof Replacement with Equity Roofing?

Written by Allen Stoltzfus | Aug 20, 2025 4:42:57 PM

When homeowners search "how soon can I get my roof replaced?" they're usually not in a casual browsing mood. They're looking for relief—whether that's to stop a leak before the next storm, meet an insurance deadline, or boost curb appeal before putting the house on the market.

At Equity Roofing, we’ve helped thousands of homeowners in Central PA, from emergency same-day tarping to planned upgrades months in advance. We’ve seen how timing can make the difference between a smooth, stress-free project and one that costs far more than it should.

In this article, we’ll break down exactly what determines how soon you can get on Equity Roofing’s schedule, share realistic wait times for different seasons and situations, and give you clear steps to speed up the process without sacrificing quality.

How Quickly Can Equity Roofing Start on My Roof?

The time of year makes the biggest difference when it comes to scheduling wait times. In the summer, our schedules stay full as our crew catches up from spring rain delays. Fall tends to be our peak season, with pre-winter rush bringing longer wait times.

By contrast, our slow season typically lands between January and March. While most homeowners assume that their roof can’t be replaced in winter, that’s not actually true. Our crew uses Owens Corning Duration Flex shingles so that your roof can be successfully replaced in temperatures as low as 20°F.

What Is The Current Wait Time at Equity Roofing?

Here's what you can expect when scheduling with Equity Roofing:

Mifflinburg and Harrisburg Locations

Season Shingle Roof Wait Metal Roof Wait Emergency Service
Winter (Jan–Mar) 3 to 4 weeks 8 to 10 weeks Same/Next Day
Spring (Apr-May) 4 to 6 weeks 8 to 12 weeks Same/Next Day
Summer (Jun-Jul) 6 to 8 weeks 10 to 12 weeks Same/Next Day
Fall (Aug-Nov, peak season) 6 to 8+ weeks 12+ weeks Same/Next Day

Current scheduling (as of recent updates): Shingle roofs are 6-8 weeks out, metal roofs are 10-12 weeks out, and EPDM flat roofing repairs are 6-8 weeks out.

Note: Equity Roofing's metal roofs take longer because they require more precise installation work, especially around flashing and custom cuts. Each panel is pre-cut to exact measurements before arriving, but flashing work must be cut and bent on-site by our specialized metal crew.

How Soon Can My Roof be Seen for An Emergency?

Equity Roofing makes every effort to treat homeowners equally, and that includes in scheduling. We generally will schedule on a first-come, first-served basis. However, we do offer emergency and urgent services for roofs that need more immediate attention.

These services come in two tiers at premium rates:

  • Emergency service: Same-day or weekend repairs at around $200+ per hour
  • Urgent service: Next business day at about $100+ per hour

Once on our schedule, our crew can also provide a temporary solution, like tarping, until your full replacement can be scheduled. Equity Roofing includes the cost of temporary repairs in your final quote, so you won't see it as a separate charge.

What Can Delay My New Roof?

Your wait time can be extended depending on the materials you choose for your roof. The more custom or unique, the more material has to be made to order. The wait time for the manufacturer can then play a role in the timeline for your roofing project.

  • Custom shingle colors, such as red, green, or blue, can add an extra 2-4 weeks when compared to standard shingle colors.
  • Standard skylights: 6 weeks; custom sizes: up to 3 months

If you're considering skylights, know that a "sun tunnel"—a round skylight with reflective tunneling that bounces light through areas where traditional skylights won't work—takes longer to source. Sun tunnels are perfect when you want natural light but don't have direct roof access due to obstacles like fireplaces or complex rooflines.

Permits rarely delay standard replacements but can add time for structural work or additional attic insulation. It typically takes anywhere from two to four weeks for all proper permits to be received.

How to Get on Equity Roofing's Schedule Sooner

One of the best ways to get on our schedule quickly is to research your choices ahead of time. It comes down to three steps:

  1. Know what materials you want
  2. Pick your color the day that you sign
  3. Submit a deposit or finalize financing to secure your spot

Once the contract is signed, it’s helpful for you to know what material and color you’d like, so we can place orders as soon as possible. Keep in mind that our team can’t begin any orders or place you on the schedule until we receive your deposit.

Equity Roofing's schedule is updated every Monday. A two-week delay in submitting your deposit can push you from 6 weeks to 8 or 10 weeks!

Material and Scheduling Tips for Fast Roof Replacements

If you’re looking to complete your roof project in a hurry, we recommend:

  • Choose Equity Roofing's standard colors: Common shingle colors and their four standard drip edge colors will have shorter delivery times, such as black, white, almond, and royal brown.
  • Be flexible: Accept weekday installations and avoid day-specific restrictions
  • Avoid specialty materials unless you're willing to wait

Equity Roofing schedules only four days of work per week, leaving buffer time for weather. Flexibility reduces your chances of being rescheduled.

What Happens After You Schedule with Equity Roofing?

Here’s a basic overview of what to expect when you schedule with our crew:

Timeline:

  • Day 1-3: We’ll inspect your roof and attic, then draft a contract based on our findings. Once your contract is signed and we’ve received your deposit, production will order your materials (usually within 24-48 hours)
  • Day 3-5: You’ll receive a "week of" installation date from your project coordinator
  • The week before: A member of our team will reach out to confirm an exact installation day
  • The day before: Your crew leader will reconfirm your appointment the day before
  • Installation day: The crew will send a text message when they are on their way

Many Equity Roofing customers are surprised by how quickly and cleanly the job gets done. As one recent customer put it: "You couldn't even tell they were here, except I got a new roof."

Frequently Asked Questions About Roof Scheduling

How far in advance should I schedule roof replacement?

For non-emergency situations, you should plan to schedule your roof replacement 6-12 weeks in advance during peak seasons (fall/summer) and 3-4 weeks during winter months.

What's the fastest I can get emergency roof repair?

Emergency roof repair services are available same-day or next business day for urgent situations like active leaks or storm damage.

Does the weather affect roof replacement scheduling?

Yes, weather delays can extend roof replacement timelines. Professional contractors build buffer time into schedules to accommodate weather-related postponements.

Can roof replacement be done in winter?

Modern roof replacement can be safely completed in temperatures as low as 20°F with proper equipment and experienced crews.

How Long Will My Roof Replacement Take?

Now you know exactly what determines how soon you can schedule your roof replacement, from seasonal demand and crew size to material lead times and permitting. If your roof is leaking, sagging, or past its expected lifespan, every day you wait increases the risk of more damage, higher repair costs, and insurance headaches.
